At least 10 people have been killed in a series of attacks on five villages in Bokkos Local Government Area of Plateau State. This assault comes just six days after a similar attack in Ruwi community, which claimed 10 lives and left three others injured during a wake-keeping ceremony.

The latest attacks occurred on April 2, 2025, and were confirmed by the Chairman of the Bokkos Cultural Development Council (BCDC), Farmasum Fuddang. According to Fuddang, the attackers began their rampage on Wednesday, initially targeting Mongor village.

However, security forces were able to repel the attackers, forcing them to move on to Daffo, where they once again clashed with security operatives before retreating.

Fuddang continued, stating, “After Daffo, the attackers moved to Manguna, Hurti, and Tadai villages, where they launched further attacks.”

He expressed concern over the toll these attacks have taken on the community, adding, “In just one week, we have lost over 20 community members due to these marauding terrorists. On April 2 alone, they killed over 10 people.”

The BCDC chairman thanked the Nigerian military and police for their prompt response, which he said helped minimize the casualties. He called for emergency relief efforts to assist the displaced and injured victims, urging agencies like NEMA, SEMA, and the Nigerian Red Cross to intervene swiftly.

The attacks have prompted widespread panic, with residents of the affected villages and neighboring areas fleeing for their safety.

In response to the violence, the Plateau State Government has condemned the recent attacks on Mangor Tamiso, Daffo, Manguna (Tagai), Hurti, and Tadai. The state’s Commissioner for Information, Joyce Ramnap, expressed deep sympathy for the victims and called for calm.

“I extend the State Government’s deepest sympathies to the victims of the recent invasions in Ruwi, Mangor, Daffo, Manguna, Hurti, and Tadai,” Ramnap said. “I am calling for calm and restraint. Our citizens must remain vigilant, yet peaceful.”

Ramnap also praised the efforts of security forces and urged them to ensure that those responsible for the attacks are apprehended. “We commend the efforts of security operatives for their response and urge them to ensure that the perpetrators of this dastardly act are brought to book,” she added.

The recent wave of violence in Plateau State has raised further concerns about the safety and stability of the region, with authorities and citizens alike calling for decisive action to stop the escalating attacks.
