Turkey will provide financial support and incentives for researchers who choose to conduct their studies in the country, Turkish Industry and Technology Minister, Mustafa Varank, announced on Wednesday.

“We will provide project support of up to 720,000 Turkish liras (approximately $96,000) to scientists who will come to Turkey.

“Scholarships, family living expenses, health insurance and transportation costs are among the other incentives to be granted.

“Therefore, we are taking important steps to bring scientists to our country,’’ Varank said.

Turkey aims to lure a minimum of 100 leading scientists and promising young researchers to the country in 2021,’’ he said in a speech.

The minister also said that the new incentives will encourage a brain drain to Turkey and inspire top scientists to come to the country.
