Insecurity: Council boss urges traditional rulers to monitor strangers
The Chairman, Toto Local Government Council of Nasarawa State, Mr Nuhu Dauda, has advised traditional rulers to monitor the movement of strange persons in their domains.
Dauda gave the task on Wednesday in Toto during a security meeting with stakeholders of the area.
He also urged them to always report suspicious movement of persons or groups to the appropriate authorities for necessary action.
The council boss said that the essence of the meeting was to discuss how to achieve permanent peace in the area.
“People should continue to respect constituted authorities by allowing appropriate authorities to address their grievances, as the importance of peace to societal development could not be over-emphasised,” he said.
He said that peace was priceless and nonnegotiable, hence the need for all and sundry to embrace peace at all times.
The chairman told the traditional rulers to be ready to bear the consequences if they failed in promoting peace in their domains.
He threatened that the council would deal with any person who truncate the existing peace being enjoyed in the area.
Dauda called on security agencies and vigilante group to work in synergy in order to collectively flush out criminal elements in the area.
He urged the residents to go about their normal activities without fear of attack as security agents were on ground to forestall any breakdown of law and order.
The Ohimege of Opanda, Alhaji Usman Abdullahi, represented by the Madaki of the chiefdom, Alhaji Adamu Salihu, appreciated the chairman for convening the meeting.
He assured the chairman of their readiness to ensure peace reign supreme in their various domains.
