UNILORIN introduces courier service for collection of certificates

The University of Ilorin (UNILORIN) in Kwara State has introduced a new initiative that allows graduates to collect their unclaimed certificates via courier service, marking a significant step towards aligning with international best practices.

Mr. Mansur Alfanla, the Registrar of the university, made the announcement during a press briefing on Monday in Ilorin.

According to Alfanla, this new approach will allow graduates, particularly those living abroad, to receive their certificates directly through a reliable courier service, eliminating the need for physical collection.

This marks a shift from the university’s previous policy, which did not permit third-party collection of certificates.

“To collect their certificates via courier, graduates must submit an original statement of result, a court affidavit, an indemnity form, and a valid international passport for those residing outside the country,” Alfanla explained.

For graduates who prefer to pick up their certificates in person, arrangements have been made for physical collection from the university between 9:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m., Monday to Friday.

This development is expected to significantly ease the process for graduates, especially those living overseas.

In addition, the university’s Registrar issued a memo on December 18, urging all graduates to collect their certificates before January 17, 2025. Graduates who fail to meet this deadline will be required to pay a fine of ₦3,000 per week before they can collect their academic records.
