Former Super Eagles and Chelsea wing-back Victor Moses has officially ended his time at Luton Town following the club’s relegation to EFL League One, bringing his one-year stint at Kenilworth Road to a close.

Moses, 34, joined Luton at the start of the season on a free transfer from Russian side Spartak Moscow, after Luton had suffered demotion from the English Premier League.

Hopes of a revival were quickly dashed as the club endured a second consecutive relegation, falling further down the English football pyramid to League One for the upcoming campaign.

The decision not to renew Moses’ contract was confirmed in a statement released on Luton Town’s official website, which listed him among the senior players set to exit the club at the end of their current contracts.

“First team squad players also departing include goalkeepers Tim Krul and Jameson Horlick, and winger Victor Moses upon natural expiry of their contracts,” the club stated.

Moses’ departure marks the end of a turbulent chapter in his career, as his time with Matt Bloomfield’s side was marred by inconsistency and a lack of team success.

Once a Premier League standout and Africa Cup of Nations winner with Nigeria, his recent seasons have seen him battle injuries and diminishing game time.

In addition to Moses, Josh Bowler will return to Nottingham Forest following his loan spell, while Kal Naismith will temporarily return to Bristol City to complete the remainder of his contract.

With Luton now preparing for life in the third tier of English football, the club is expected to undergo a significant rebuild, cutting ties with experienced players and focusing on restructuring the squad for a competitive League One campaign.
