Investigative journalist, Babajide Otitoju, has revealed that some demands from the civil servants in Osun State may have cost Governor Oyetola his re-election bid in Osun State. Analyzing the election results on TVC News, Babajide said only a few civil servants may have voted for the governor at the governorship poll.

Addressing the topic, Babajide said, “In my view, APC lost in the areas dominated by civil servants, pensioners, and retirees.” The APC also lost the government house polling unit. This tells you that the civil servants, a critical voting block in any election, did not vote for the governor, or only a few of them may have voted for the governor. I investigated the reason behind their actions, as the governor always paid their salary in full and he did not miss their payment.

He continued, “I learned that the civil servants wanted the arrears owed before the governor got into office to be paid. There were also pension arrears amounting to billions of Naira. However, the administration was always saddled with a lot of debts. There were situations when Osun State received zero allocation from the federation account. The governor ensured that they neither owed salary nor acquired new loans, like some governors do these days.

I have watched about two episodes of journalist hangout and wish to make the following clarifications.(1) Kolade-otitoju might have traveled to osun state to do some research about the state and governance, he should accept the fact that you can not know the house as the house owner. There are many things wrong with the system run by the governor. Be reminded that he was the chief of staff for eight years under Aregbesola and he was the architect of the modulated salary structure. This is known to the workers. (2) award of contract at inflated cost, e g, the renovation of primary health centers, each at #30m, just renovation without equipments. This was done about two years ago. You can still come to the state for verification. (3) most of the state township roads are in very deplorable state, except of course, Iragbiji. I heard Kolade-otitoju saying he toured Alekuwodo in Osogbo and was impressed. I now invite him to come to the state and undertake to tour towns like Ilesa, Ife, Iwo, Ede, Ikire, Ikirun and Ila, to see things for yourself.(4) finaly, I retired as a director in 2018 under the contributory pension scheme and up till the time of writing this email, I have not received a dime either in terms of pension or arrears of the 30 months modulated salary. We have some retirees who left the service under the contributory pension scheme as far back as 2016 who haven’t received anything. Please let me add the issue of nepotism leveled against the governor by the politicians in APC. Try to cross-check.
