The Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) in charge of zone 5 Edo, Bayelsa and Delta States, Mr. Musa Daura on Tuesday said it has commenced full scale investigation and manhunt for the abductors of two Delta Monarchs: HRM, Josiah Mukoro Aghaza and HRM, Agbogidi Akaeze Ofulue III.
While expressing sadness over the subsequent murder of one of the traditional rulers, HRM, Agbogidi Akaeze Ofulue III; Obi of Ubulu-Uku by his abductors, the AIG said: “The Nigeria Police will not rest on their oars until it fishes out the perpetrators of these heinous
crimes”.
Daura at a meeting with stakeholders in Asaba on Tuesday on the alarming case of kidnapping armed robbery, cattle rustling and other security challenges in the area. While stating that the meeting was convened to synergize with traditional rulers and the Hausa/Fulani community in the area on ways to tackle crimes and ensure peaceful
co-existence.
According to him, “you will agree with me that the crime committed in the zone are perpetrated by foreign bodies from Mali, Chad and Cameroon”.

Mr. Daura urged the locals to henceforth obtain official approvals from their various community heads before giving shelter or accommodation to any cattle rearer and cautioned herdsmen to desist from acts that are inimical to peace including drug abuse.
Mr. Samuel Okoro, the Ezomo of Ijere clan in Delta State who gave a historical background of their relationship with the Fulani herdsmen, said they have given an ultimatum to the group to vacate their communities following reports of violent crimes being carried out by the group.
Samuel Okoro, from Ndokwa Local Government Area of Delta State who claimed to be a member of a vigilante group, said if urgent steps are not taken to prevent the group who freely wield sophisticated fire arms from raping their children and wives, the situation may compel them to resort to self-help.

“We can no longer sleep with two eyes closed. I have stopped going to work. In fact, I use a Dane gun to escort my wife to farm between 8am and 3pm every day of the week”.
