Ukraine reports Russia to International Court of Justice, The Hague
Ukraine has reported Russia to the International Court of Justice in The Hague, seeking global judicial intervention to halt Russian military operations and invasion of Ukraine.
The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, disclosing the country’s petition to the ICJ in the Netherlands in a tweet on Sunday, declared: “Russia must be held accountable for manipulating the notion of genocide to justify aggression.”
Zelensky maintained, “We request an urgent decision ordering Russia to cease military activity now and expect trials to start next week.”
Russian had invaded Ukraine on Thursday and within four, is encroaching Ukraine’s capital, Kyiv.
The U.S. E.U. NATO, the UN, and others have widely condemned the Russian invasion, calling for ceasefire. NATO, EU and US have imposed various forms of sanctions on Russia.
