Ramadan: Lagos Assembly Muslim Community to faithful, be charitable to the needy
…congratulate elected leaders
The Lagos State House of Assembly Muslim Community has harped on the need for faithful to be charitable towards the needy as prescribed in the Qu’ran especially during the holy month of Ramadan begins.
The Council of Imams made this charge at the lecture held to commemorate first day of Ramadan at the Assembly Mosque, Alausa,Ikeja led by Sheikh Al-Imam Abdush-Shakur Adeleke Osoala.
The Council urged Muslim brothers and sisters to use this month to also pray for peace to reign in the country.
”Alms giving as prescribed by the Qu’ran will go a long way to alleviate the suffering of the masses especially in the present situation of the change in currency and cashless policy that is currently causing some forms of financial hardship ”
They further added that alms giving can be done in cash, food products or other items, not necessarily to beggars but people in need whether they speak up or not within our immediate environment.
” The last elections held recently indicated that there is need for everyone irrespective of religious background or affiliation to ask for forgiveness and stop shedding blood in the land.”
Ramadan is the Holy month in which all Muslim faithful should observe fast with the exception of the sick people as prescribed by the Holy Quran.
The Council of Imams also used the Ramadan period to congratulate those that won the recent elections in the country adding that the election was the manifestation of a true democratic system.
“We pray for those that won the election that Almighty Allah will be with them and enjoined them to fulfill the promises made during the electioneering campaigns.”
It will be recalled that on Thursday 23rd of March, 2023 Muslims all over the world began their compulsory fasting and prayer which would last for 29/30 days in accordance to the moon sighting.
