Army battle kidnappers, rescue 13 victims in Abia
The Nigerian Army, a detachment from the 14 Brigade of the 82 Division, in search and rescue operation after a kidnap incident, rescued 13 kidnap victims in Umunneochi Local Government Area of Abia State.
The Director of Army Public Relations, Brigadier General Onyema Nwachukwu, had in a statement narrated that on receiving a distress call on Saturday, the soldiers went into operation and found a Sienna SUV and an L300 Mitsubishi bus with Registration Number UWN 190 AL Enugu being attacked by kidnappers along the Ngodo-Isuochi road.
He said that army, gathering more information from witnesses at the scene, commenced immediate manhunt for the kidnappers. This, the Director said, resulted in the rescue of five kidnapped victims in the first operation; subsequently, 8 other victims were rescued, to make up the 13 rescued victims.
The Army urged citizens to support the military with useful information in combating crimes in the country.
