Evidence shows discrepancies in Sanwo-Olu’s credentials –Jandor

Reports from the Lagos State Governorship tribunal, documents tendered by PDP’s Abdul-Azeez Adediran, popularly known as Jandor reportedly shows discrepancies in Governor Sanwoolu’s credentials submitted to INEC.

Recall that Sanwo-Olu, candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) was declared winner of the March gubernatorial election in Lagos state by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

According to the results announced by INEC, Sanwo-Olu polled a total of 762,134 votes to emerge the winner of the contest.

The candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, polled 312,329 votes, while the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) standard bearer, Abdul-Azeez Adediran, popularly known as Jandor, scored 62,449 votes.

Jandor had subsequently petitioned the Governorship Election Tribunal, presenting evidences that the names on the statement of WAEC result Sanwo-Olu presented to INEC are just two, while the ones on the Master list WAEC tendered in court has three names with a different first name, but same surname, same exam number and same exam year.

These names are also different from names on his first and second degree certificates.

The latest judgment on discrepancies of names on certificates was delivered on Thursday 10th of August, 2023 by a National Assembly tribunal sitting in Kano which nullified the election of Hon. Umar Mukhtar Yerima for having two names in his primary school certificate and three names in his other credentials with no deed polls that clarified the discrepancies just as that of Governor Sanwoolu.

Also, evidence before the tribunal shows that Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour was never, and still not a member of the Labour Party.

His name is conspicuously absent in the Certified True Copy of Membership register of the Labour Party which was last updated and submitted to INEC on the 20th April, 2023. Exactly one month after he contested under the Labour Party.

The position of the Law is that you cannot contest for election, except you are a Member of a political party who must sponsor you.

This evidence was tendered in court by Jandor of PDP who seeks disqualification of both APC and Labour Party candidates.

The tribunal has reserved Judgement till a date that will be communicated to all parties.
