NCC hails Tinubu’s appointment of Idris Olorunnimbe, new board members to drive digital economy vision
The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has extended its warm congratulations to Mr. Idris Olorunnimbe, Chairman-designate of the Commission’s Board, along with other distinguished designate-Board members and newly appointed members of the Universal Service Provision Fund (USPF) Board, following their appointment by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
In a statement issued on Friday, the NCC described the new leadership team as a formidable assembly of highly respected professionals with proven competence, vast experience, and outstanding track records in their respective fields.
According to the Commission, the blend of expertise and strategic insight brought by the appointees is expected to strengthen the NCC’s regulatory capacity, enhance governance, and accelerate the transformation of Nigeria’s communications sector in line with the nation’s digital economy ambitions.
The NCC expressed optimism that under the stewardship of Olorunnimbe and his colleagues, the industry would witness renewed impetus towards innovation, infrastructure expansion, and digital inclusion, key pillars of President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
The Commission also conveyed its “profound appreciation” to President Tinubu for the appointments, pledging to work closely with its supervising ministry and the new Board to implement policies that will position Nigeria as a leader in Africa’s digital space.
