Police vow to rescue three abducted seminarians in Edo
The Edo State Police Command says it has intensified operations to secure the release of three seminarians abducted during a deadly attack on the Immaculate Conception Minor Seminary, Ivianokpodi-Agenebode, in Etsako East Local Government Area.
The incident, which occurred on July 11, left an officer of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) dead.
Police spokesperson, CSP Moses Yamu, in a statement on Monday, said the Commissioner of Police, Monday Agbonika, is personally leading the rescue effort.
“Operatives of tactical teams, including the Anti-Kidnapping Unit, have been deployed to ensure the safe rescue of the victims,” Yamu said.
He disclosed that a tactical division has been set up in Ivieukwa community to bolster security and enhance intelligence gathering in the area.
According to him, the command is also working closely with sister security agencies and experts to deploy advanced technical intelligence and coordinated operations aimed at rescuing the victims.
“We are aware of the recent viral video involving the boys, and we wish to assure the Catholic Diocese of Auchi, parents, guardians, and the general public that the Edo State Police Command is leaving no stone unturned in its resolve to bring the seminarians back safely.
“The Edo State Police Command remains unwavering in its commitment to protecting lives and property,” Yamu added.
