Security operatives have successfully rescued 21 kidnapped individuals and arrested four suspects in Dutsen Dargaza, located in the Danmusa Local Government Area of Katsina State, officials confirmed on Saturday.

The Katsina State Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Dr. Nasir Mua’zu, disclosed the development in an official statement, noting that the operation was conducted under the leadership of the Department of State Services (DSS), in collaboration with the military, the police, and local vigilante groups.

“Four suspected criminals were arrested and are currently undergoing investigation,” the statement said.

Those rescued included 16 women, two men, and three infants. The victims were reportedly abducted from the residence of the District Head of Bayero in Musawa and other surrounding locations.

The operation specifically targeted the hideout of a notorious terrorist identified as Kamilu Chiroma, popularly known as Buzaru, at Dutsen Dargaza. Authorities indicated that the suspects apprehended during the raid would be charged to court upon the completion of investigations.

Officials described the rescue as a significant success in the ongoing efforts to curb kidnapping and terrorism in the state, emphasizing the collaboration between federal security agencies, state authorities, and community vigilante groups in tackling criminal networks.

Security experts have noted that coordinated multi-agency operations such as this serve as a deterrent to kidnapping syndicates, while also providing reassurance to local communities in high-risk areas.
