An unidentified man was rescued on Wednesday after reportedly attempting to jump into the Lagos Lagoon from a bridge in Lagos, sparking concern among motorists and passersby.

Eyewitnesses at the scene said the man allegedly parked his vehicle on the bridge before climbing over the rail and entering the water. His actions immediately drew attention, with bystanders raising alarm as the situation unfolded.

Fortunately, local fishermen operating in the area responded swiftly. Demonstrating remarkable courage, they navigated toward the man and pulled him out of the lagoon, averting what could have resulted in a fatal tragedy.

A video of the dramatic rescue later surfaced on social media, where it was shared by Isaac Fayose. In his post, Fayose urged Nigerians to be more attentive to the emotional and mental well-being of people around them.

“Please, check on your family and friends. This just happened today. Who knows what went wrong,” he wrote.

As of the time of filing this report, the identity of the man had not been established, and the circumstances that may have led to the incident remained unclear.

The Lagos State Police Command had yet to issue an official statement confirming the development or providing further details. Authorities are expected to investigate the incident to determine what transpired and whether any additional support or intervention is required.
