Mikel Arteta has declared he feels “zero fear” ahead of a crucial week that could shape Arsenal’s season across both Europe and the Premier League.

The Arsenal FC manager made the comments as his side prepare for a decisive run of fixtures, beginning with a UEFA Champions League quarter-final second leg against Sporting on Wednesday night.

Arsenal carry a slim advantage into the tie after securing a 1-0 victory in the first leg in Portugal last week, leaving them in a strong position to reach back-to-back Champions League semi-finals for the first time in the club’s history.

Beyond Europe, Arteta’s side face another major test on Sunday when they travel to the Etihad Stadium for a Premier League top-of-the-table clash against defending champions Manchester City, a fixture widely seen as pivotal in the title race.

Speaking ahead of the high-pressure double-header, Arteta expressed unwavering belief in his squad and the journey they have undertaken.

“I’m on fire. That’s it. Nothing else. I’m dreaming so much,” he said. “I’ve done so much to be in this position. Because I know how this club was. I’ve done so much against anything that I just see beauty, opportunity.”

He added that the team’s collective ambition and resilience continue to drive them forward.

“I want to get it done with those who have been on this journey with us. They deserve it, it’s unbelievable,” Arteta said.

The Arsenal boss also reflected on his mindset compared to earlier stages of his tenure, insisting that pressure has transformed into purpose and clarity.

“I have zero fear. I had fear when: if we don’t get this done, I don’t know what happens to the club. Now? It’s just purpose, fire, direction,” he stated.

High-Stakes Week for Arsenal

Football analysts say the coming days could define Arsenal’s season, with Champions League progression and a potential title-defining league result both on the line.

Former England international turned pundit Michael Owen noted that Arsenal’s ability to manage emotional and physical intensity will be key. “This is the moment where young title challengers are tested. Arsenal now have to show maturity in both competitions within a few days,” he said.

Similarly, tactical analyst Karen Carney highlighted Arteta’s psychological framing of the challenge. “What Arteta is doing is shifting pressure into motivation. That mindset is crucial when competing at the highest level across multiple fronts,” she explained.

With silverware ambitions in both Europe and England still alive, Arsenal head into one of the most significant weeks of their modern era, with their manager projecting confidence, conviction and calm ahead of the challenge.
