The Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC) has reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding the rights of Persons With Disabilities (PWDs).
This statement was made by Mr. Anthony Nwafor, Deputy Director of Consumer and Business Education, during a policy roundtable on financial inclusion for PWDs held in Abuja on Wednesday.
The event, organized by the Consumer Advocacy and Empowerment Foundation (CADEF), focused on strategies to enhance the financial inclusion of PWDs.
Nwafor highlighted that the FCCPC has initiated several campaigns aimed at ensuring inclusivity for PWDs, emphasizing the need for an accessible environment where individuals with special needs can access services without discrimination.
Prof. Chiso Ndukwe-Okafor, Executive Director of CADEF, stressed the urgency of addressing the challenges faced by PWDs in accessing digital financial services.
She pointed out that the meeting was designed for stakeholders to brainstorm solutions to both online and offline challenges, including inadequate infrastructure and poor policy frameworks.
