Google Trends has announced that it will end its email subscription service effective October 29, 2024.

In a statement released to users, the company revealed that trend notifications delivered via email will cease, and users will no longer be able to create new trend alerts through the subscription page.

“Starting on October 29, 2024, Google Trends trend notifications will no longer be supported, and existing alerts will no longer be sent,” Google said.

“Creating new trend alerts using the subscription page will also no longer be possible. You can still copy your subscriptions from the Google Trends subscription page before the cutoff date if you wish to keep a record of them.”

This change marks the end of a feature that has provided valuable real-time search trend updates to millions of users, including marketers, journalists, researchers, and casual users. The alerts have been instrumental in delivering trending topics directly to users’ inboxes.

For years, these alerts have provided valuable insights for marketers, journalists, researchers, and casual users alike by delivering trending topics straight to their inboxes.

However, Google said it is offering alternative methods for users who still want to stay on top of search trends.

“We understand this change may affect how you stay updated on trends,” the company said.

“While email subscriptions will no longer be supported, there are alternative ways to access trending information:

“Homepage Newsletter: Visit the Google Trends homepage to sign up for our daily newsletter and receive the latest trends in your inbox.

“RSS Feed: Subscribe to the RSS feed for real-time updates on trending topics.

“We hope these alternatives will help you continue to discover insights on Google Trends.”

While this shift may present challenges for those who depend on custom alerts, Google remains confident that the new alternatives will continue to help users discover insights and stay informed.
