Manchester United star, Alejandro Garnacho has silenced his compatriot, Angel Di Maria over Cristiano Ronaldo vs Lionel Messi. The 19-year-old on Sunday sent a perfect response to Di Maria with his goal celebration in United’s 3-0 win over West Ham.

Rasmus Hojlund scored a brilliant effort to open the scoring at Old Trafford before Garnacho doubled United’s lead in the 49th minute with a deflected effort.

The Argentine then wrapped up United’s win with a neat finish with six minutes remaining.

Earlier this week, former United winger Di Maria said in an interview with TyC Sports that Garnacho should stop copying Cristiano Ronaldo’s celebrations after scoring.

‘The only thing I wouldn’t do is celebrate like Cristiano,’ Di Maria said.

‘I would score the goal and I would do like Messi does. I’ll stick with that.’

Di Maria wants to rather celebrate like Messi than like Ronaldo

But after scoring the first of his two goals against West Ham, Garnacho ignored Di Maria’s advice and sat on the advertising board with his back to the crowd – copying another iconic celebration from Ronaldo.

It’s not the first time Garnacho has received criticism for using Ronaldo’s celebrations this season as Arturo Vidal also took aim at the United winger after his brilliant overhead kick against Everton at Goodison Park.

‘The only bad thing or what I didn’t understand is why he celebrates like Cristiano?’ said Vidal.

‘He has to make his own name. He is an already great player.

‘It’s good that he is his idol, respect for that, but then he has to make his name. How are you going to celebrate a goal and remember it? I don’t know, celebrate it another way. But it was a great goal, it was a great goal.‘
