NOA Director General Lanre Issa-Onilu supports tax reform to improve Nigerians’ lives
Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu, Director General of the National Orientation Agency (NOA), has emphasized that the Federal Government’s proposed tax reform will improve Nigerians’ lives by creating a fairer and less burdensome tax system. He also addressed ongoing efforts to fight HIV/AIDS and encouraged youth to engage in government programs for better opportunities.
Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu, Director General of the National Orientation Agency (NOA), has expressed strong support for the Federal Government’s proposed tax reform, saying it would lead to a better quality of life for Nigerians.
In a press briefing on Friday in Osogbo, Issa-Onilu emphasized that taxation is critical for funding national development, but acknowledged the concerns many Nigerians have about the proposed tax.
He was represented at the event by Mrs. Olubukola Olorunfemi, NOA’s Director of Community Outreach and Development.
Issa-Onilu noted that while the government recognizes the concerns surrounding multiple taxation and its impact on low-income earners, the purpose of the tax reform is to make the system fairer and less burdensome.
The proposed reform includes four key tax bills aimed at improving Nigeria’s tax system.
These are the Nigeria Tax Bill, the Tax Administration Bill, the Nigeria Revenue Service Establishment Bill, and the Joint Revenue Board Establishment Bill.
The reforms are designed to eliminate double taxation, support low-income earners, and streamline tax collection processes.

Issa-Onilu assured that the taxes collected will be used to visibly enhance public services, such as schools, hospitals, and infrastructure.
He emphasized that the reforms aim to ease the burden on hardworking Nigerians while ensuring fair contribution from everyone.
“These reforms are designed to create a tax system that works for all, funding the development projects that will improve our nation,” he stated.
In addition, Issa-Onilu highlighted the government’s intensified efforts to combat HIV/AIDS, providing free testing, counseling, and antiretroviral treatment nationwide.
He stressed, however, that the fight against HIV/AIDS cannot be won by the government alone, urging citizens to take responsibility for their health and support those living with the virus.
The NOA Director General also advised Nigerian youth to avoid the “Get-Rich-Quick Syndrome” and instead take advantage of government programs designed to improve their lives.
