A 40 year-old man, Sani Idris, of Maska village in Funtua Local Government Area of Katsina State, is now in prison custody on the orders of a Katsina Senior Magistrate Court.

Nemesis seemed to have caught up with him after he allegedly hypnotised and lied to seven women that their husbands were wizards and had sex with them in Maska village, Funtua Local Government Area of Katsina State.

Idris allegedly slept with the women after promising to help them tackle their husbands.

He is currently cooling his heels behind bars on the orders of Senior Magistrate Abdulkareem Umar a senior magistrate’s court sitting in Katsina, as the case is slated ‘for mention’ on July 24.

The victims of Idris as gathered include Maimunatu, Hadiza, Murga, Zainab, Mana, Mariya and Amina.

Luck reportedly ran out of Idris when one of the victims, Maimunatu, confided in her husband, who then lodged a complaint against Idris at the Funtua Central Police Station.

The complainant reportedly told the Police on June 11 that his wife, Maimunatu, informed him that Idris, who claims to be a soothsayer, called her mobile phone, asking her to come down to his house, located also at Maska Village.

He added that on getting to the house, Idris allegedly told her that he, the husband, was a wizard and that he (Idris) would help her tackle the husband.

Idris was alleged to have, thereafter, prepared some concoction for Maimunatu to drink to abort her one month pregnancy and thereafter started chanting some incantations. He further told the Police that Idris reportedly slept with Maimunatu and warned her not to tell anybody.

Upon interrogation, the suspect confessed to have committed the offence and added that he had done same to other women.

Idris is facing charges of rape and ‘attempt to commit an offence to wit causing miscarriage,’ which, Police said, are contrary to Section 283 and 95 of the Penal Code.
