Police crushes robbery syndicate in Kogi

AS the yuletide period creeps in, the activities of men of the underworld have also increased, with strategy to outwit security agencies in Kogi and its environs.
Unfortunately for them, a recent operation ended bloody as men of Kogi State Police Command engaged the robbers in a shoot out, killing two robbers at Advai local government area of the state. A policeman died in the process.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Williams Aya who confirmed the death of Sergeant Sunday Patrick, said until his death, Aya was attached to the Advai Division. “He was killed in a bank at Advai during a gun duel with the criminals and the name of one of the robbers killed was YakubuNasire and another unknown.” The PPRO said.
It was gathered that two AK47 rifles with registration numbers 1965 and 9974, 10 AK47 magazines, 10 lives ammunition among other weapons were recovered from them.
It was further learnt that a reliable informant had intimated the police about some criminal elements terrorizing Ejule in Ofu Local Government and its environs. They swiftly swung into action and arrested three suspects who were allegedly on their way to carryout robbery attack in Ogbabo junction in Ofu.
Parading some criminals in the state, Aya said the police have equally made other recoveries which included one locally made single barrel gun, one axe, and two cutlasses from one IsiakaNunu , Arome Ibrahim, and Mella Simon while trying to carry robbery operation along the road.
“The Police team of the Special Anti- robbery squad (SARS) attached to Area Commander in Okene while on routine patrol arrested one OnimisiFataiSediq with one locally made pistol and unregistered Sambars motorcycle while two of the gang member, Hassan and Tijani escaped.”
Also paraded were Mudashiru Mustapha and his gang who had threatened to kidnap and demand N10, 000, 000 million from Mikaila Ahmed Ita as ransom.
Dazed with fear, Mikaila, was said to have succumbed to the threat by agreeing to pay the gang N1.5 million which was dropped at an arranged place for Mudshiru Mustapha to pick it up. Unfortunately for him, he was arrested by the police in the process.
