The National Daily newspaper reports that there has been twist and turn in Chelsea and Liverpool transfers.

Chelsea have maintained their intent to bring Brighton’s Moises Caicedo to Stamford Bridge to bolster their midfield options. Similarly, Liverpool have considered same gesture with Southampton’s Romeo Lavia.

Previous reports have indicated that the Blues are set to hijack Lavia’s transfer after offering £48m to the Saints on Wednesday evening to outbid Liverpool for the transfer of the 19-year-old.

Now the National Daily newspaper reports that Chelsea’s move for Moises Caicedo is in danger of also being hijacked by Liverpool who have outbid their Premier League rivals.

Chelsea boss Maurcio Pochettino’s made Caicedo his No.1 target to bolster his engine room after losing the likes of Mason Mount, N’Golo Kante and Mateo Kovacic this summer.

The club had been confident of finally reaching an agreement with Brighton after submitting an £80million bid last week which still fell significantly short of the Seagulls’ £100m valuation.

But Chelsea’s hopes of concluding the deal for Caicedo in time for their first game of the season against Liverpool, this weekend have now hit a major stumbling block with the Reds set to gazump the deal for the Ecuadorian according to The Telegraph.

Jurgen Klopp like Pochettino, is also keen to bolster his midfield given the exit of James Milner, Naby Keita and Alex Oxldade-Chamberlain at the end of last season coupled with the further departures of Jordan Henderson and Fabinho this summer.

Though Kloop has recruited Alexis McAllister and Dominik Szoboszlai, but they are likely to represent shrewd additions, neither is suited to the No.6 role occupied by Curtis Jones in pre-season.

Liverpool have already seen three separate offers for Lavia knocked back by Southampton which has prompted Chelsea to make their own £48m move for the Belgian.
