Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State on Wednesday presented an Appropriation Bill of N545 billion for the 2025 fiscal year to the State House of Assembly.

The proposal, which was introduced during a session in the state assembly’s chamber, is aimed at addressing reforms and the impacts of inflation across various sectors in the state.

Governor Lawal explained that the 2025 budget includes 28 percent for recurrent expenditure, amounting to N151.68 billion, while the remaining 72 percent, or N393.33 billion, is earmarked for capital expenditure.

The proposed budget is slightly higher than that of 2024, reflecting the state’s response to economic challenges.

He described the 2025 budget as a strategic move to manage the ongoing reforms and inflationary pressures that have been affecting various sectors nationwide.

The governor also expressed satisfaction with the implementation of the 2024 budget, highlighting that nearly 100 percent of the planned activities had been executed, with key projects nearing completion.

“The increase in the 2025 appropriation bill is attributed to reforms and inflationary trends affecting most sectors,” Lawal said in his address.

The Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Bilyaminu Moriki, responded positively to the proposal, describing it as both timely and a welcome development.

He assured the governor of the assembly’s prompt approval of the budget and reaffirmed the lawmakers’ commitment to supporting the success of the current administration’s rescue policy.
