A 37-year-old Nigerian, Ademola Oke, has been found dead at his workplace in the United Kingdom, marking the third reported death of a Nigerian in the country in April.

According to a GoFundMe appeal launched by a close family friend, Adejonwo Odutola, Oke left his home on the morning of April 18, 2026, in good health and showed no signs of illness.

Odutola stated that Oke remained in contact with his wife throughout the day, and their last known communication was a WhatsApp message exchanged at 2:08 p.m., with nothing appearing out of the ordinary.

The situation took a tragic turn later that evening when a colleague arriving for a night shift reportedly found Oke seated on a sofa at his workplace but unresponsive.

“On 18th April, 2026, Ademola, 37 years old, left home in the morning hale and hearty, with no signs of illness. He was in contact with his wife during the day, and they even shared a WhatsApp message at 2:08 pm—everything seemed normal,” Odutola wrote in the fundraising post.

“Tragically and without warning, Ademola passed away suddenly while at work. Later in the day, a colleague arriving for their shift at night in the service user’s house found him seated on a sofa, unresponsive.”

Emergency services were called to the scene, but Oke was pronounced dead shortly after.

The unexpected loss has left his 31-year-old wife devastated and facing the responsibility of raising their two young children, aged six and two, alone. Family friends described Oke as a devoted husband and caring father whose sudden death has sent shockwaves through his immediate family and the wider Nigerian community in the UK.

In response to the tragedy, relatives and friends have initiated a fundraising campaign to help cover funeral expenses and provide financial support for the children during the difficult transition period.

Odutola explained that the funds raised would go toward burial arrangements and ongoing assistance for the children as the family adjusts to life without their husband and father.

“This cause is deeply important to me because I have seen firsthand the love within this family and the profound impact this loss has had on them. No family should have to endure such heartbreak while also facing financial uncertainty,” he stated.

As of the time of filing this report, £4,509 had been raised toward the £8,000 target set by the family.
