Wife hires assassins to kill husband
A Kenya business tycoon based in Mombasa, Mr. Polycarp Okumu has dragged his wife to court after she had hired a hit-men to murder him in order to inherit his wealth.
The woman identified as Ms Rose Adhiambo and her house help, Ms Doris Akinyi, allegedly hired hit-men to kill Mr Okumu at the Beach Road Estate in Mombasa.
However, luck was said to have ran out on her when the husband caught her withdrawing huge amount of money in the bank to pay the assassins.
Okumu aka Kamili, a wealthy businessman, told the police that he caught his wife red handed while withdrawing Kenya Shilling 1.2million at Kenyan Commercial Bank, Naivas Branch in Nyali, which was to be used to pay the assassins.
However, a Police Constable Dominic Kiptum told the court that the two suspects and their accomplices conspired to kill Mr Okumu between October 20 and 26 before she was apprehended.
Contable Kiptum told the court that Rose was arrested at the bank while trying to contact the killers so that they can pick the money and execute the wicked mission. It was also alleged that she had made a previous attempt to kill her husband by poisoning but he miraculously survived it.
According to the Resident Magistrate, Viola Yator allowed an application for the two accused to be detained at Bamburi Police Station to enable the police complete their investigations.
The accused persons, Ms Adhiambo and Ms Akinyi, were later detained on the order of the magistrate at Bamburi Police Station until November 9, when the full trial of the wife and her accomplice is expected to commence.
