Angry mob set ablaze residence of Commissioner for Security Affairs in Sokoto
Angry mob has been identified to be responsible for the inferno that razed the personal resident of a commissioner in Sokoto State. The Sokoto State Police Command was gathered to have acknowledged that mob action culminated into the burning of the personal residence of the Commissioner for Career and Security Affairs, Colonel Garba Moyi (Rtd), in Isa Local Government Area.
The Public Relations Officer of the Sokoto State Police Command, Assistant Superintendent of Police Sanusi Abubakar, admitted that the command received reports on the incident, adding that arrests have been made.
Abubakar narrated that a peaceful gathering was organised by some notable citizens of the area to discuss way forward over the security crisis in the state.
The PPRO stated that the gathering was organised in good faith and resolutions to be forwarded to appropriate quarters for further action. Unfortunately, some bad elements hijacked the gathering for a protest that went violent, causing disorder which resulted in the burning of the commissioner’s residence.
The angry mob were said to have invaded the residence of the District Head of Isa, Sarkin Gobir of Isa, Nasiru Ahmed and destroyed vehicles and other items.
The PPRO disclosed that no life was lost.
