Oil multinationals are currently in talk with the militant group Niger Delta Avengers, though there are no indications the group is willing to stop bombing oil facilities in the oil producing region.
President Muhammadu Buhari confirmed the jaw-jaw this while speaking during a farewell session with the outgoing German ambassador, Michael Zinner in the Aso Villa on Thursday.
A press release by Buhari’s media aide Garba Shehu stated the negotiation on-going is to find a lasting solution to insecurity in the south-south.
While Buhari said his government can feel for the militants, he added he’s studying the instruments of the Amnesty Programme inherited from the previous administration with a view to carrying out commitments it made that were undelivered.

“We have to secure the environment, otherwise investment will not come. We will do our best for the country,” Buhari said .
He also thanked Germany for its continuing support of Nigeria in the efforts to tackle insecurity and the on-going rehabilitation and resettlement of displaced citizens in the north-east.
Commenting, Zinner said that bilateral relations between Nigeria and Germany have improved very much since the beginning of the Buhari administration.
He went further ro state Germany’s commitment to assisting Nigeria in rehabilitating the IDPs, and to encouraging German bug businesses to invest in Nigeria.
President Buhari may jet out soon again as Zinner reminded him Germany’s Chancellor Angela Merkel’s standing invitation.
