Countdown: OPC sets date to tackle Ijaw militants
By August 4, the Oodua Peoples Congress and the Niger Delta militants terrorising Lagos and Ogun will do battles to prove the southwestern hospitality is no stupidity, and that Lagos belongs to the Yoruba.
The ultimatum issued July 21 by the Yoruba group would be the second issued by two militia groups from the southwest in recent times.
In a statement entitled Incursion of Ijaw militants into Yoruba land: Enough is enough, and signed by Comrade Dare Adesope, the Yoruba group expressed its disappointment at the inability of the government to rein back the Ijaw people attacking their host communities.
“But, it has now dawned on us that the lives and properties of our people and, indeed, the masses are of no importance to those in authorities and the marauding militants,” the OPC said.

The group claiming to the Reformed OPC further explained that the Yoruba are the most contented and accommodating, welcoming everybody to their communities.
“But, if they want to take our hospitality for stupidity, we are ready to prove to them that the gentility of a tiger is not an act of cowardice.”
The OPC further threatened to prove to the Ijaw that Lagos belongs to the Yoruba and not a no-man’s land many tend to erroneously claim.
Some armed attackers suspected to be Ijaw militants have been killing and robbing people in certain border communities like Igando, Igbo Olomu, Bolorunduro, Ajegunle, and Oke Muti.
No fewer than 20 people were killed in those communities in June.
