Buhari honours Jonathan, Wike, 42 others with service awards
President Muhammadu Buhari on Friday conferred former President Goodluck Jonathan, Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State, and 42 others with awards of service in recognition of their immense contributions to the development of the country.
The President conferred the awards to the recipients, comprising of 44 top individuals in Nigeria, who include 16 governors, ministers, and service chiefs, at the State House, Abuja, on Friday.
It was gathered that the maiden award in collaboration with the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation was to “recognise and reward innovation, leadership, and other exceptional achievements of individuals that have contributed immensely to the growth and development of public service and the country.”
It was highlighted that to qualify for the award, recipients must be a living public official or a private citizen excelling in a given sphere of influence. They must be in good character and also at the forefront of service and innovation.
