Buhari makes national broadcast at 7.00am Thursday as crisis over Naira notes redesign, sap deadline persists
The Nigerian Presidency on Wednesday disclosed that President Muhammadu Buhari will at 7.00am on Thursday, make a national broadcast.
The Special Adviser to President on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, in a statement indicated: “President Muhammadu Buhari will make a national broadcast on Thursday, February 16, 2023, at 7 am.
“Television, radio stations, and other electronic media outlets are enjoined to hook up to the network services of the Nigerian Television Authority and Radio Nigeria for the broadcast.”
The statement, however, did not disclose the issues to be addressed in the broadcast, however, Nigerians are expecting that the President addresses the crisis over the Naira notes redesign policy, and the trailing scarcity and sales of Nigeria’s currency since the new monetary policy.
President Buhari had earlier on Wednesday held a meeting with the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele, after the Supreme Court reiterated its restraint on the federal government and the CBN from enforcing the Naira notes swap deadline, before adjourning the suit filed by state governments challenging the naira redesign policy of the CBN to February 22.
