Celebrating Obaseki: The Champion of Workers’ Rights
In a landmark move today in Abuja, the national minimum wage was raised to 70,000 Naira, and once again, Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State has proven himself a true champion of workers’ rights. His relentless fight for better wages has set a new standard, earning him profound respect and trust. It’s high time the NLC House in Abuja bears his name, for he is the true hero of Nigerian workers.
Governor Obaseki’s foresight was evident when he warned against the indiscriminate printing of money under President Buhari, predicting the naira’s eventual crash—a prophecy that has sadly come to pass.
Furthermore, Obaseki’s commitment to political harmony in Edo State stands as a testament to his leadership. He promised to support Edo Central in producing the next governor, resisting his Deputy Governor Philip Shaibu’s opposition to this fair power rotation.
Godwin Obaseki is an intellectual giant, and Edo State has been fortunate to have him at the helm. As we look ahead, it’s clear that we need another intellectual to succeed him—someone who understands the importance of political harmony and respects the nuances of our state’s geography and history. We cannot afford a leader who confuses a zoo with a museum or disregards the distance between Irrua and Akoko-Edo.
Let us uphold the legacy of intellectual leadership and ensure that the principles of fairness and respect continue to guide Edo State.
