Chairman of covid-19 task force tests positive
Bauchi’s Deputy Governor Baba Tela has tested positive for Covid-19.
A press release made available to journalists in Bauchi by Muhktar Gidado, senior special assistant on media to the governor, made this known.
According to Gidado, the deputy governor got tested when he showed symptoms of COVID-19 by the Nigeria Center for Disease Control (NCDC).
Tela became chairman of Covd-19 task force in the state when his boss Bala Mohammed tested positive after coming back from Germany in March.
“He contracted the disease while discharging his onerous responsibility as Chairman of the Committee,’ the statement read in part.
He’s now in self-isolation as health professionals are attending to him.
Samples of all the contacts of the deputy governor have been taken by the NCDC for testing.
