Christ Embassy Bayelsa, Nigeria South-South Zone One despite its headquarters being directly affected by the flood (having its church hall and surroundings flooded), rose to occasion, taking significant steps to mitigate the effects of the October 2022 floods on affected victims in Bayelsa state.

With over a million persons from over 300 communities internally displaced (and having to be lodged at several camps) with critical infrastructures like roads and bridges drastically affected and also the unspeakably high cost of basic necessities such as fuel, cooking gas, food items and transportation all meted out untold hardship to Bayelsans.

Demonstrating the love of Christ to the flood victims, led by the Zonal Pastor, Pastor Obi Umeasiegbu, provided succor to thousands of internally displaced persons, visiting several Camps inclusive of the Igbogene and Ompadec IDP Camps.

Food items including Bags of Rice, Beans, Garri, Onions, Cartons of Noodles, Spaghetti, Tubers of Yam, Bags of water etc. worth millions were distributed to thousands of Internally Displaced Persons.

Most importantly, Pastor Obi Umeasiegbu shared the word of God consistently during the radio church services (airing every Sunday and Wednesday on all radio stations in Bayelsa State reaching over 2 million people) and also at the IDP camps bringing to the people the message of hope encouraging, strengthening, and imploring them to look beyond the flood to better days ahead.

The Church also provided accommodation for several individuals and families who had nowhere to go to.

These laudable actions taken by the church proves the scriptures in Roman 8: 37-39 which says: 37 Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.

38 For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,

39 Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

(Romans 8: 37-39)

Expressing his deep and profound gratitude to the President Loveworld Incorporated; Rev Dr. Chris Oyakhilome Dsc. DD, Pastor Obiq was filled with joy at the opportunity given to reach out to Bayelsans at this time making full proof of God’s word, bringing hope and succor to many.
