Club Brugge pulled off a remarkable 3-1 victory over Atalanta in Bergamo on Tuesday, securing a 5-2 aggregate win to progress to the UEFA Champions League last 16.
Having led 2-1 from the first leg, Club Brugge delivered a dominant performance, scoring three times in the first half.
Chemsdine Talbi netted twice, while Ferran Jutgla added another to give the Belgian side a commanding lead.
Atalanta, who had a first-leg deficit to overcome, pulled one back through Ademola Lookman after he missed a penalty earlier in the match.
However, it was not enough to stop Club Brugge from advancing.
Lookman, along with Sead Kolasinac, had returned to Atalanta training just in time for the decisive second leg.
Their availability gave La Dea a much-needed boost, though they were unable to mount a successful comeback.
Atalanta has faced a tough period recently, having dropped form since being contenders in Serie A before the winter break.
While they managed a 5-0 win over Hellas Verona earlier this month, they were eliminated from the Coppa Italia and struggled in the league, including a goalless draw against Cagliari.
Their first-leg loss to Club Brugge had left them with a mountain to climb.

In the first leg, Brugge took the lead in the 15th minute thanks to a goal from Ferran Jutgla, but Atalanta equalized through Mario Pasalic.
However, a last-minute penalty from Gustaf Nilsson handed Brugge a 3-2 win in Belgium.
Atalanta continued to face defensive injury concerns, with Kolasinac and Giorgio Scalvini still struggling for full fitness, while Lookman was recovering from a knee injury.
Meanwhile, Club Brugge arrived in Bergamo with a fully fit squad and no suspension issues, allowing them to field their strongest lineup.
Despite Atalanta’s struggles, their home advantage offered hope for a potential comeback, but Brugge’s commanding performance saw them through to the next round, where they will face either Lille or Aston Villa.
