Angry Atalanta Fans Turn on Ademola Lookman Amid Transfer Saga
Angry Atalanta Fans Turn on Ademola Lookman Amid Transfer Saga, Atalanta forward Ademola Lookman has found himself at the centre of a storm in Bergamo, as sections of the club’s ultras have turned against him over his desire to leave for rivals Inter Milan.
The Nigerian international, who played a key role in Atalanta’s Europa League triumph last season, is facing mounting hostility from the Curva Nord 1907 and other fan groups, who accuse him of disrespecting the shirt. Some supporters have gone so far as to suggest they would rather see the team relegated to Serie B than watch Lookman continue in the colours of La Dea.

Tensions escalated this week when banners appeared at the Gewiss Stadium ridiculing the forward and questioning his commitment. One banner read: “The shirt must be honoured. Another piece of bullshit will not be tolerated,” in a clear reference to Lookman’s apparent push for a summer exit. Another set of fans mockingly nicknamed him “Guipiman,” a slang term for street cleaner.

The Vecchia Guardia ultras were even more scathing in their condemnation, with chants and statements aimed directly at the Super Eagles star, highlighting the depth of anger over his potential switch to Inter Milan.
Lookman, 26, remains one of Atalanta’s most valuable assets after scoring 17 goals across all competitions last season. His form made him a hero in Bergamo, but the latest developments have fractured that relationship, leaving his future uncertain as the transfer window continues.
While Atalanta officials have yet to issue a statement on the unrest, the row underlines the delicate balance between player ambition and fan loyalty in Italian football.
