Describing the love story of both Mr. Omolaja Odusanya and Mrs. Ebun Olayinka Odusanya as one written by the divine script-master would not be an exaggeration.

It was a reaffirmation of love so passionate, bond so strong and a tale of souls united in love. At a surprise birthday dinner put together by Mrs.Odusanya in commemoration of her man’s birthday, she revealed more about their love story, which she said started right from their primary school days.

Like a perfectly sculpted piece of art that endears many at first sight, the two love birds started off on a good turf, to an extent that Omolaja’s sibling and late Pa Adekoya-Ebun’s father gave their unwavering consents to the relationship at the point of discovery.

“Laja once said, one of our teachers then in primary school from Osun state Mr. Oladipupo came back after he retired to share a revelation that, God told him Ebun is your wife.
“My grandmother Alhaja Adikatu Adesanya said l should marry him because he is cool and gentle, unfortunately she died some months to the wedding day.

According to Ebun, Mr. Omolaja Odusanya had his eyes on her ever since their primary school days and they though innocent youngsters back then, both got fond of each other and have been quite close.
“When l was in the higher institution, he declared his intention that he had his eyes on me since primary school to marry me.

“My sweetheart here was born on January 16 1963 while I was born January 17 1964.

“We both went to the same Primary school and in fact we sat beside each other in class from primary one to six. Coincidentally my mum happens to be the head teacher there.”

Commenting on her mum’s disposition to the relationship, Ebun notes that she really had no idea about the relationship initially.

“At the period my mum who is a disciplinarian till date said ‘who is the fiancé of Laja Odusanya?

“l was shocked because she had no idea ‘she said God will give him a good wife because he was one of my obedient students’. Imagine! She did not even see me as one.

“When l offended my mum, the punishment will be served on the assembly ground the following day, and Laja will be the one to back me for 12 strokes of cane, that would have been considered as child abuse today!

“In most cases he will be the one to complete the strokes of cane because l would have jumped off his back.

“He would always sneak to join those to fetch water for the headmistress while in school so as to talk with me.”
Being a jovial and devout Christian Laja once likened his journey to have my hand in marriage to that of Jacob in Laban’s house.

“Jokingly during marriage preparation, he said like Jacob in the Bible who served Laban seven years for a wife, he also served headmistress for six years fetching water and cleaning the compound.

“There were lots of ups and downs like other Christian homes but in all we have the full course to glorify God’s name.

She described her husband as a passionate and selfless lover, whose heart is sold out to ensuring positive development of others.

“I love him because he doesn’t pretend at all and he will never lie instead he will keep silent meaning Yes l did it!

“He always loves to wear the same clothes with me. Just like my parents.”

To drive home her point about the kind of love exhibited by her sweetheart, Ebun recounts a scenario that really affirmed his unalloyed love till date.

“Our pastor said in a couple ‘s night programme we attended back in Nigeria, that we should write all the challenges we are facing in our marriage, adding that we should not write our names as he was interested in marital problems only for prayers.

“People were asking for more sheet of paper and Pastor had to ask, are your spouses so wicked to this extent?

“After 15 mins we thought the Pastor would collect everything as he said earlier, instead he said don’t disobey your Pastor exchange your papers with your spouse, honestly my husband wrote- I love you unconditionally Ebun, and l have written almost a page of what l don’t like about him.

“I had to cut my paper into pieces, l could not submit it to my husband. Honestly speaking he displayed AGAPE LOVE till today.”

Mrs. Odusanya while stating what informed the surprise dinner, to commemorate her husband’s special day hinted that Laja as she fondly calls her king has a slogan- “16th will determine 17th”.

“As per the surprise birthday, he has a slogan that 16th will determine 17th, he loves food and l always prepare special food for him if we are together. He had no idea of what we are doing here today, he thought he is coming for a seminar and he has his call cards ready to make new contacts.

“On getting here he was so surprised to be attending a dinner organized in his honour, I appreciate all of you.”

The surprise dinner which took place at the Turkish Kitchen 34 New Road Peterborough, had in attendance friends and well wishers of the celebrant who took turns to appreciate him.

The guest was treated to a sumptuous dinner, which was enjoyed in the ambience of a cool environment that the Turkish Kitchen offers.
