#EndSARS Anniversary: Lagos Police renew brutality, fire tear gas at Lekki Tollgate memorial procession venue
The Police in Lagos may have on Wednesday renewed brutality on peaceful protesting citizens, firing tear gas canisters at the Lekki tollgate, venue of the #EndSARS memorial car procession in Lagos State. The #EndSARS Movement had assembled at the venue to mark the one year anniversary of the #EndSARS protest in 2020 which was disrupted violently by the shooting of the peaceful protesters at the Lekki tollgate in Lagos on the evening of October 20, 2020, by security operatives. The protesters were opposing police brutality, and the federal government responded to their legitimate demands. One year after, most the demands had not been met by the federal government even after President Muhammadu Buhari promised to ensure that all the demands were met.
The detonation of tear gas canister is generating tension in the state.
