Football title holders,  FC Ifeanyiubah, Enyimba of Absence and Enugu Rangers are not taking part in this second edition of South East/South South preseason tournament holding at Abakaliki,National Daily learnt.

FC Ifeanyiubah absence is tied to their late resumption which started open screening.

Enyimba could not take part following what officials tagged fixture congestion having returned from Morocco where they crashed out of the 2018 CAF Confederation Cup 2-1 (3-1 on aggregate) to Raja Casablanca.

Rangers on their part, we’re crowned 2018 Aiteo Cup Champions a week ago and are still putting their house in order ahead next week’s victory parade and reception by governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi.

However,  Rivers United,  Heartland and Abia Warriors are the topmost NPFL clubs lighting up the Abakaliki showpiece.

At the close of match day two games on Monday, Rivers United became the first team to seal a place in the semi finals with victories in their first two opening games.

Abia Warriors are second on the standings with four points following a win and a draw while two draws in their opening two games means Heartland will aim for a win in their third game to advance.

Meanwhile,  Manchester United are on ground to take a look at possible transfer targets.

Omar Sciolla, the EPL’s Chief Scout told pressmen that he was absolutely impressed with what the players are serving out in terms of talent.

“This is my second time of coming to Abakaliki this year.

“The first was in May during Obinna Ogba Football Tournament.

“I must say I’m absolutely impressed with the quality of this (south east/south south) tournament.

“Nigeria has huge talents and I am seeing that here at this tournament.

“I’m one of Manchester United’s 57 scouts around the globe so I’m impressed here”, Sciolla said refusing to disclose the identities of those players who have so far made it to his books.
