Folarin Falana, better known by his stage name Falz, has revealed why he is also into human rights activism aside from his music career.

Falz who is the son of human rights lawyer, Femi Falana (SAN) said thatthat the reason why he is an activist is because he’s a compassionate soul.

Falz said, “Compassion, I just care and I cannot afford to witness everything I witness and not say anything and not do anything about it. It’s just the way that I’m built. Nobody is putting fire on my backside and telling me that I must do this or I must do that, it just comes.”

When he was asked if he had any political aspirations, he out rightly declared that he has no interest in politics. He also said that understand not all activists want to become politicians.

“I am not a politician, but I think that everyone should know what they want for themselves and focus on that. There are people that are activists that never really make that transition into politics. Not every activist you see is positioning themselves for political positions.”

Going back to his reasons, he also stated that although though he is famous, he is an activist because he cannot look past the injustices and not fight for better things.

He said, “I can afford not to like you said but in my mind, I feel like I cannot afford to ignore everything that I witness, and that’s my reason.”

He has proved his activism through his music, like ‘Talk’ which he released in 2019 and his actions like his notable service during the historic #ENDSARS protest in 2020 where he was among the celebrities at the forefront supporting the movement. His advocacy is still going strong to this day.

Falz, is a Nigerian rapper, songwriter and actor who began his career while in secondary school after forming a group called The School Boys with his friend before his professional career as a music artist began in 2009.
