Five dead in lone accident on Lagos-Ibadan expressway
Five people have tragically lost their lives in a fatal accident involving a Mercedes Benz jeep on the Lagos-Ibadan expressway, near Fatgbems bus stop, on Sunday night.
CSP Omolola Odutola, spokesperson for the Ogun Police Command, confirmed the incident in a statement on Monday.
The crash, which occurred around 11:30 p.m., was reportedly caused by reckless driving.
According to Odutola, the driver of the Mercedes Benz, traveling towards the Mowe direction, suddenly lost control of the vehicle.
It hit a culvert, somersaulted, and veered into the opposite direction.
“Three men and two women in the vehicle were confirmed dead, while one person sustained injuries,” she said.

The injured victim was immediately taken to AZ Carezone Hospital for treatment. The bodies of the deceased were deposited at Real Divine Hospital’s morgue in Ibafo.
The police spokesperson confirmed that the families of the victims have been notified.
Odutola also took the opportunity to urge all motorists to exercise caution and drive responsibly on the roads.
