Ganduje declares emergence of Akpabio as senate president ‘done deal’
Governor Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano State, during courtesy visit to Governor Ben Ayade of Cross River State, on Thursday, declared that the emergence of Senator Godswill Akpabio as the Senate President of the 10th National Assembly, is a done deal.
Ganduje, accompanied on the trip by the Chief of Staff to President Muhammadu Buhari, Ibrahim Gambari, insisted that the endorsement and nominate Akpabio for senate president of the 10th National Assembly “is already a done deal”.
According to the Kano Governor, “the senate president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria will come from the south-south and it is no other person than the former governor of Akwa Ibom.
“The uncommon governor, the uncommon minister who is going to be the uncommon president of the senate. So, we have resolved that.
“I am giving you assurance, we are waiting for the D-Day that he will be the senate president of Nigeria.”
Governor Ayade commended Ganduje and his bloc for the choice of Akpabio for senate president.
The Cross River Governor said: “I want to thank you so much for zoning the Senate President to the South-South and to our brother from a neighbouring state, who is also part of Cross River State.
“We want to thank you for this great opportunity because our dream of a Bakassi seaport is becoming very real.”
Governor Ganduje is known to have been in the camp of the newly elected President, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, since the electioneering campaign for the 2023 general elections.
