Gov. Dickson postponed wrestling National Classics
The Nigeria Wrestling Federation (NWF) has postponed the 3rdGovernor Dickson National Wrestling Classics earlier scheduled to hold from 24th-30thJune, 2018,National Daily learnt.
The postponement is as a result of the ongoing 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia, where the major stakeholders in the sporting industry are present.
Secretary General of the Federation Mohammed Libata informed that a new date for the competition – which will now take place in August – will be announced later after due consultation.
The venue for the event remains the Indoor Sports Hall of Samson Siasia Sports Complex in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State.
Over 500 athletes from different states of the federation and clubs are expected to participate in the Classics, which will feature all the three wrestling styles (Greco Roman, Freestyle and Women Wrestling) in the senior (20 years and above) and cadet (15 to 17 years) categories only.
