Man loses company’s fund to sports betting, commits suicide
A man identified as Adegbite at Pegi, Kuje, Abuja, has taken his own life after staking N150,000 on sports betting, and losing everything.
The Federal Capital Territory Police Command on Tuesday said it started investigating.
According to colleagues, the money was meant for the wages of others in the company he works for, but he decided to make some quick bucks off it.
“He selected some matches but he did not win. He had hoped he would win and pay back the money,” a source said.
“The following morning, he was not seen by his neighbours. They noticed that he was inside; they broke the door open and found his body dangling on the ceiling fan. They alerted the police, who removed his body.”
