Police arrest man, 35, for illicit sex with wife’s cousin, 11
The Police have revealed that arrest of a man, Idowu Shittu, 35 years, for allege illicit sex with his wife’s cousin, 11, at Hallelujah area in Ifo Command, Ogun State.
The Police Public Relations Officer of the Ogun State Command, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, in a statement, disclosed that the man was apprehended after his wife reported at the Ifo Divisional Headquarters, that “her husband had been having sex with her 11-year-old cousin living with them in the past three years.” The husband may have been defiling a minor at about eight years when he started the defilement.
The Police maintained that the woman reported that when her cousin could no longer endure the pains, she reported her husband to her.
The wife narrated that the little girl, who lost her mother when she was a toddler, has been enduring it because she has no other place to live if her aunt’s husband sends her away. According to the girl, “When her husband wants his way with her, he threatens her.”
Meanwhile, the Ogun Commissioner of Police, CP Lanre Bankole, has directed that the victim be taken to the hospital for medical examination and treatment.
CP Bankole also directed that the man be immediately sent to the state criminal investigation and intelligence department’s anti-human trafficking and child labor unit for further investigation and subsequent prosecution.
