Police intensify manhunt for kidnap suspects, recover gun, ammunition in Edo
The Edo State Police Command has reaffirmed its commitment to tackling crime, as operatives recovered an AK-47 rifle and 22 rounds of live ammunition while continuing their manhunt for suspected kidnappers.
Under the leadership of Commissioner of Police Betty Enekpen Isokpan Otimenyin, psc, mnips, the command made the recovery in the Okhuesan forest, along the Okhuesan-Ewohimi road, on February 3, 2025, at approximately 5:30 PM.
This followed the successful rescue of three kidnapped victims earlier the same day.

The recovered firearm, identified as an AK-47 rifle with breach number 1972P09108, was discovered abandoned by the fleeing suspects, who remain at large. Security operatives are intensifying efforts to apprehend the criminals and dismantle their operations.
“This operation underscores our unwavering resolve to rid Edo State of criminal elements. We will continue to hunt down those responsible for these acts of violence and bring them to justice,” a police source stated.

Meanwhile, CSP Moses Joel Yamu, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) for Edo State, assured the public that all efforts are being made to ensure peace and security across the state.
As the hunt for the kidnappers continues, authorities remain determined to dismantle criminal networks and restore public confidence in the security system.
