The Rivers State Police Command has launched an investigation into the brutal murder of a father and his son at their residence in the Igwuruta-Ali community.

The victims, 59-year-old Timothy, the Chief Security Officer (CSO) at Adokiye Amieseimeka International Stadium in Omagwa, and his son, were allegedly killed by suspected assassins.

SP Grace Iringe-Koko, the spokesperson for the command, confirmed the incident in a statement issued on Wednesday from Port Harcourt.

According to Iringe-Koko, the attack was reported to the Igwuruta Division by the deceased’s daughter, who informed officers that four armed assailants ambushed her father and brother.

The gunmen reportedly shot the victims multiple times in the head before fleeing the scene.

Upon receiving the report, police officers were dispatched to the location and recovered three expended AK-47 cartridges.

Although the victims were rushed to a nearby hospital, they were pronounced dead by the attending physician due to the severity of their injuries.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Olugbenga Adepoju, has ordered a manhunt for the assailants, instructing officers to ensure their swift apprehension and bring them to justice.

In a separate operation, Iringe-Koko also announced the arrest of two suspects involved in the theft of solar panel streetlights and manhole covers.
