Serena Williams tearfully thanks parents, Venus

Serena Williams, a multiple grand slam champion, sobbed as she thanked her parents, Richard and Oracene, as well as her sister, Venus.

Following her Saturday’s defeat to Australian Ajla Tomljanovic in the US Open, Williams stated , “I appreciate it, Dad. I know you’re watching. Regards, mom! I want to express my gratitude to everyone who has supported me for so many years—literally decades—and decades! My parents deserve everything because they were the cause of everything. I’m thankful to them a lot for that. I guess these are happy tears.

To her older sister, she said, “I wouldn’t be Serena if there wasn’t Venus. So thank you, Venus. She’s the only reason Serena Williams ever existed.”
