Teenager docked for stealing N475,000 cables
A 19-year-old teenager, Julius Francis, was arraigned on Wednesday before a Kaduna Chief Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing N475000 cables.
The defendant, a resident of Barnawa in Kaduna, is facing a one count charge of stealing.
The Prosecutor, Insp. Chidi Leo, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on Sept. 21 at Sabon Tasha, Kaduna.
Leo said that the defendant stole 150 meters of 1.5mm cables valued at N475,000, property of Williams Investment Ltd.
He said that the defendant was caught by the security guard before he carted away the cables and was immediately taken to the police station.
Leo said stealing N475000 cables constitutes an offence that contravened the Penal Code of Kaduna State, 2017.
The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The Magistrate, Ibrahim Emmanuel, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N100,000 with one surety in like sum.
Emmanuel said that the surety must have a reliable source of income and evidence of tax payment.
He adjourned the matter to Oct. 16 for hearing.
