Tinubu not an opponent of protest – Information Minister, Idris
Amidst increasing tension over the mobilisation and increasing momentum for national protest of hardship in Nigeria commencing on August 1, the Minister of Information and national Orientation, Mohammed Idris, had stated that President Bola Tinubu is not an opponent of protest of any kind; asserting that the President is, however, an opponent of violence and anything that will negatively affect the well-being of citizens.

“The Government of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu fully believes in the freedom of everyone to do what they think is right for them, within the confines of the law.

“The President is not an opponent of protest of any kind, but the President is an opponent of violence and anything that will negatively impact the wellbeing of Nigerians.

“He believes, and always says, that within the tenets of democracy, you have every right to do whatever you want to do, provided that right does not infringe on another person’s right.”
